Bio

Craig McMartin was a late starter in racing circles compared to most, after racing dirt track for a few years in the 90's, Craig got the chance to test a mates RGV 250 at Oran Park and from there never looked back.

Craig bought his own RGV and started racing in the 250 Production class in the Australian Championship in the late 90's which culminated in 1999 when he finished second in the Australian Championship.

After a short but successful run in the 250 production class, Craig moved into the Supersport class where he raced a Ducati 748R and despite competing on a standard bike and on a shoestring budget, Craig managed a very credible 12th in the Australian Championship in only his first attempt.

In 2001, Craig moved in to the Pro-Twins class riding a Ducati 996SPS and immediately began to set the pace, winning the national championship in his first attempt. Craig went on to totally dominate the Pro-Twins class, winning 6 consecutive national championships. Some highlights from the 6 championships include the 2002 championship where he won 22 out of 24 races and more recently, winning his sixth consecutive championship riding the smaller Ducati 749R with treated tyres while his competitors raced more powerful 1000cc machines on racing slick tyres.

In 2007, Craig is competing in the combined Pro-Twins/Nakedbike class on the new Ducati 1098S. Not content to just win his class, Craig is always riding for the outright win and is currently the only Pro-Twin rider to not only match the pace of the powerful nakedbikes, winning the 3 out of the last four races.

Other Career highlights include testing the DFX Team 998RS Factory Superbike at Phillip Island with World Superbike regular, Steve Martin where Craig earned great respect from the team for adapting to different machinery and tyres in such a short time and also the valuable information he provided to the team.

In the immediate future Craig hopes to be able to compete in the Australian Superbike Championship and possibly the World Superbike Championships in the future.
