In 1996 the Ducati Factory Team first started to use slipper clutchs. At the same time TSS made their first slipper clutch for this most famous superbike. After eight years of experiences TSS tuned this clutch to perfection, modified design of all details, using the best alloy from aerospace production, the most modern coating technology, ceramic surfaces etc. Why to use slipper clutch? Slipper clutch reduces rear wheel chatter on downshifting, allowing better chassis stability under braking and on the entry to corners, reducing the chances to crashing and allowing the rider to reduce lap times as a result of a better grip. Also an overtorquing engine by shifting uncorrect gear is almost impossible. How does it work? The clutch drum is a two part machining, when the Engine RPM rise on a downshift, the center of the clutch hub moves out automaticaly, so causing the clutch to slip, preventing the rear wheel lock-up and chatter. The alloy outside basket can be also used as high-quality replacement of worn out STD part. For all this clutches also sintermetaled clutch plates kits are available by TSS.
