Pro Twins
Defending champion Craig McMartin, Ducati 749R, took the overall win at the Barbagallo round 2 of the Pro Twins Australian Championships in his quest for an unprecedented 6th consecutive class championship. After running into set-up difficulties during the lead-up to the Barbagallo meeting, McMartin was unable to find the right setting for the tuff Barbagallo circuit.
After qualifying in second position behind the Ducati 749R of Mick Kelly, McMartin got the weekend off to a good start in the first race by setting the pace early to set and maintain a handy lead. However, McMartins luck ran out towards the end of the first race when his Ducati 749R ran into mechanical problems, relegating him to 3rd position.
McMartin was able to
take control of the remaining two Pro Twins races of the weekend, using his
spare Ducati 749R to win both races on Sunday of the event and take the
Championship lead with 132 points, 23 points clear of Paul Roe (Aprilia RSVR
1000 Factory).
Craigs next outing on the Carbonize sponsored Ducati 749R will
